Wellington 2 Ellesmere Rangers 2

WELLINGTON came within the thickness of a post of gaining a win against the West Midlands League Premier Division's fourth-placed side.

With just two minutes remaining, Josh Hunt got on on the end of a Will Perkins corner but his effort hit the outside of the woodwork.

The villagers impressed in the early stages and the Rangers keeper pulled off a couple of fine saves from Dave Price and Aaron Morgan in the first 10 minutes.

Chris Manciu made a couple of good catches from corners and Rangers responded before Wellington took the lead on 32 minutes.

Hunt and Perkins combined with Ben Thomas whose through ball was guided home by Price.

The visitors made a strong start to the second period and scored twice to go in front.

But Wellington hit back again and, after a spell of pressure, Paul Jones cut in to thrash the ball home.

Matt Williams had a couple of opportunities as time ran down before Hunt's stroke of late ill fortune.

In Division Two, Kington moved up to eighth place with their fifth win in eight matches, a 3-0 success at lowly Wyrley Reserves.

All of the Kington goals came from long-range efforts, a free-kick from Jordan Cooper and shots from Nick Evans and Aaron Hodge.
