LUCTONIANS director of rugby Alex Davidson knows the team must do much better in order to stop their current rut.

The Mortimer Park club have lost their last three games in National League Two North, with a home win against Huddersfield being their solitary win.

Their latest defeat came last Saturday when they were on the receiving end of a 30-19 defeat against Oatley.

Luctonians now have the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways this Saturday when they host second-from-bottom Broadstreet.

They then travel to Stockport, who are currently propping up the table.

"We always start really well, but we knew it was going to be different this season because we are a young side," said Davidson.

"May be we need one or two leaders who can help the team.

"We have been scoring a lot of tries, but we have not been closing out games.

"We have got Broadstreet, then Stockport, and those are games we really to get points from."

The returning Jimmy Norris scored Luctonians' first try out wide, with Joe Doyle adding a second after beating three Oatley players.

But Luctonians found themselves 20-12 behind at the half-time break and were always up against it against it.

They did manage to reduce the deficit to just a point in the second half when Will Sparrow converted Dan Smith's try, but their West Yorkshire opponents grew stronger to run away with the game and secure the win.

"It was a very disappointing result and and we are on a run of four games without winning," said Davidson.

"They showed their forward dominance and we didn't identify any spaces and ended up arm wrestling with them.

"We played to their strengths and were always behind in the game."

Winger Adam Knight is hopeful he will return to the side for this Saturday's game following a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Other injuries currently hampering Luctonians include Romanian number eight Costica Dima, who has a neck injury, and second row Chris Jaques, who is out with a rib injury.
