SOME of the county's top young cricketers were rewarded for their achievements at a presentation evening.

Players from under-9s, under-10s, under-11s and under-12 teams were acknowledged at the Burghill Valley Golf Club bash that was organised by Herefordshire Cricket Limited.

"We had a great night and it was fantastic to see so many people at the event to celebrate the success of our younger age group teams," said Glyn Harrhy, Herefordshire Cricket's player development manager.

"All our teams performed well this year with most registering a number of wins – many against much bigger counties with many more players to choose from.

"We have always tended to hold our own in the older age groups, but it's pleasing that we can now say our younger age groups are also catching up with their peers from across the county.

"We are very pleased we have been able to introduce county ties this year and the pride the youngsters felt when they were presented with them on the night was obvious.

"These ties allows us to not only celebrate the performances of the stand-out players, but also acknowledge the efforts of any player who gets selected a number of times too."
