GOLDEN Valley Rifle Club junior shooter Liam Hill was on target at the world famous Bisley ranges in Surrey.

Hill was awarded the Ventora Challenge Cup after gaining a score of 543 out of a possible 600.

Shooting at distances of 50m and 100 yards over five days, competitors were awarded a maximum of 10 points per shot.

Hill also secured a top ten finish in his class in the Grand Aggregate Championship after scoring 2,519 out of a possible 2,800.

And to top a successful week of shooting and finishing ninth in the junior championship, Hill was selected to represent Great Britain in the junior Weber International.

Hill achieved a score of 551 out of 600 at the Malcom Copper range that was built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

Hill's score was ninth in the team and at the end of the shoot, England were in second place behind USA.
