BURGHILL & Tillington underlined their Worcestershire County League Division Two status with a high-scoring won over county rivals Wormelow.

Burghill must have thought they were well beyond the reach of their rivals when they piled up a massive 326-5 from their 50 overs with Stefan Hook (85 not out), Alex Hedges (79) and Tim Walsh (63 not out) all in the runs.

But Wormelow responded in a positive vein and with Tim Boulter firing a run-a-ball 115, with good support from Luke Jones (56) and Jamie Banfield (41), the visitors remained in contention almost to the end.

However James Burston rounded things off in fine style for the hosts by taking a hat-trick from the final three balls of the innings.

A weakened Bartestree & Lugwardine side were able to celebrate championship success in Division Four despite a defeat at Martley.

Bartestree picked up the four points they needed to clinch the title by bowling out the hosts for 225.

But their below-strength side were beaten after being dismissed for 130 in response.

Bromyard kept alive their chances of beating the drop from Division One by beating second-placed Pershore by seven wickets, thanks largely to some fine batting by Josh Tongue (84 not out) and skipper Ashley Bullock (78).

But results elsewhere mean that Bromyard's fate is still out of their own hands even if they beat champions Worcester in their final game on Saturday.

A century by Tom Coleman (120) underpinned a seven-wicket success for Colwall over Redditch.

There was a run-feast in the Division Three clash at Avoncroft where Ross opener James Tiffen found himself on the losing side despite an innings of 182.

Tiffen, in partnerships with Jack Evans (36) and skipper Seb Warwick (59) led the south Herefordshire side to 232-1 at one point before going on to complete their innings at 341-7.

Tiffen (2-61) also proved the most successful Ross bowler but an unbroken fifth wicket stand between skipper Craig Hughes (89 not out) and Daniel Elliott (83 not out) guided the home side to a remarkable six-wicket victory.
