A SHELWICK driver gas come out on top in the 2cvParts.com British championship in 2014.

Pete Sparrow, a driver for the Birmingham-based Team SeaLion, clinched the title at the final event - a 24-hour endurance race - in Anglesey, beating team-mate Peter Rundle into second place.

Sparrow has been racing Citroen 2cvs since 1989 and this is his fifth British championship and seventh 24hr race win.

The car has its engines tuned by Steve Walford Motorsport in Northfield, Birmingham and is maintained by Sparrow in Hereford during the year. It ran faultlessly for the 24 hours, needing only fuel, tyres and a bit of oil.

The championship is in its 25 year and for 2014 has been held at five race circuits all over the country and has 10 rounds in total.
