WESTFIELDS came out of the Bank Holiday weekend with mixed feelings after a 2-1 win over basement club Brocton was followed by a 1-0 reverse against Alvechurch from their two Midland Fotball League Premier Division home games.

On Saturday, Westfields went in front when Craig Jones's pass found Zac Sirrell who crossed for Jamie Cuss to tap into an empty net.

Brocton hit back, however, when striker Gary Fife fired past returning goalkeeper Jamie Moore.

The goal livened up the home side and Jones forced a diving save before Cuss rattled the bar with a powerful volley.

Fife missed a great chance to put Brocton ahead before Jones settled matters four minutes from the end, powering in a free-kick which deflected into the net.

On Bank Holiday Monday, Alvechurch created some good early openings before Jack Cresswell converted a cross from Connor Deards on 25 minutes.

Either side of the interval, Fields missed great chances to level when Tom Boyle and then Dean Lee failed with clear openings.

Westfields continued to pile on the pressure and Robert Dragg was unlucky with a shot which came back off a post for Dan Polan to fire the rebound wide.

With time running out, Westfields adopted a route-one approach which posed few problems for the tall Alvechurch centre-backs.
