HEREFORD long distance triathlete Kathryn King has qualified for another World championship.
King travelled to Germany to compete in the Ironman 70.3 European Championships in Wiesbaden near Frankfurt where a top field of more than 2,000 competitors tackled the 1,900m swim, 56-mile bike and half marathon over particularly tough terrain, worthy of the European Championships.
King was using this high profile event as lead up to this year's Ironman World Championships in Kona in October.
In doing so she gained second place in her age group, securing yet another World Championship qualification slot at the 70.3 World Championships to be held in Austria in August 2015.
"The race was tough, especially the bike section, with over 1500m of climbing and some fast, technical descents but I felt strong and carried this through on the run," she said.
"I’m extremely happy with the result - to achieve podium finishes in all three Ironman events I have done has exceeded my expectations by a long way.
"I’m now focusing on the final phase of training in preparation for Kona which is just over seven weeks away.
"I’m extremely grateful for the continued support from John Wood, owner of The Shed CBM and NFTO Pro Cycling Team."
