BARTESTREE & Lugwardine continued their march towards promotion with an emphatic seven-wicket win over Romsley & Hunnington at home.

The villagers bowled the visitors out for 159 inside their 42 overs with Ryan Trattell taking 5-44 and captain Ben Simpkin said they we’re happy with their work in the field.

He said: “We we’re happy with what we had to chase – we knew their score was below par.”

Bartestree then made short work of the visitors total, getting to the target set inside 38 overs with Simpkin himself top scoring with 51 not out.

He said: “It’s about time I scored some runs - I haven’t had the season I would have liked.”

The league leaders now have six games left until the end of the season and are now 56 points clear of second-placed Himbleton, but Simpkin is not looking further ahead than next week.

He said: “We’ve just got to take one game at a time and play it game by game.”

The villagers next game is away to third-placed Claverley on Saturday.
