GARNONS have strengthened their grip on the GB Liners Marches League Division One title with a 112-run success against Knighton.

The reigning champions have a clear 2.54 average points lead over second-placed Goodrich with just three weekends of the league campaign remaining.

Leading the way for Garnons was all-rounder Alan Jones, who stroked 114 as the title-hopefuls compiled 302-6.

Duane Evans (77) and Andy Johnson (45 not out) also made significant contributions.

David Morgan (41) was the leading contributor to Kington's reply while Garnons' leading wicket-takers were Rob Pritchard (3-53) and Scott Harris (2-44).

Luctonians are up to third place after a rapid 10-wicket success over Dales.

Pete Griffiths (5-27) and Matt Bengry (4-30) bowled out the Leominster club for just 71 before Chris Ibbetson (53 not out) and Duncan Platford (11 not out) steered the Mortimer Park team home without loss.

Brockhampton 3rd have moved out of the relegation zone after a one-wicket win over Builth Wells where Rhys Price (87 not out) guided them to victory.

Talgarth, who were unable to raise a team on Saturday, have now sunk to the foot of the table.

The Welshmen have now been forced by lack of players to withdraw their second-team from the league's Division Five.
