BURGHILL & Tillington have strengthened their position at the head of Division Two of the Worcestershire County League with a conclusive 78-run win at Lye.

The villagers' victory leaves them 79 points clear of third-placed Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social and overwhelming favourites to regain the Division One place they lost last season with only six games of the current campaign remaining.

Wormelow, despite 83 from Tim Boulter and 52 from Elliott Williams, were involved in a rain-affected losing draw at Cookley.

Bromyard have returned to bottom spot in Division One after having rather the worse of a losing draw at Evesham.

The hosts compiled 219-6 with Bromyard able to reply with only 123-9, despite a battling 46 from skipper Ashley Bullock.

Colwall are now in sixth place in the table after failing by just one wicket to force a win over Droitwich Spa.

Skipper Sebastian Warwick piloted his Ross side to a nine-wicket success over Tenbury with an unbeaten 83.

The visitors were restricted to 137-9 with James Tiffen, who took 3-4 in the Tenbury innings, then assisting Warwick with 52.

Division Six leaders Canon Frome were without a game after scheduled opponents Rushwick 3rd were unable to raise a side.
