Pegasus Juniors 4 Wolverhampton Sporting Community 1

LAST season West Midlands League Premier Division runners-up Pegasus got their new campaign off top a flying start with a comprehensive home win.

Goals from Keith Jones, Anthony Robbins, Tom Dawson and Kiea Cowley made it an excellent day for the Old School Lane side, who also hit the woodwork on a couple of occasions.

Juniors made a positive start and seemed unlucky to be denied an early penalty when Kane Kahaki's header deflected off the arm of Ryan Jones.

The home side continued to carve out chances but had to wait until the 27th minute for the breakthrough.

Wolves keeper Simon Dye rolled the ball out to defender Liam Morrall who was robbed by Jones with the Pegasus man rounding the stopper to roll the ball home.

Before the break, both Mark Davies and Robbins hit the bar with fine efforts.

Juniors had to wait until the 73rd minute for their second goal.

Jones was brought down by Morrall in the area and Robbins shot home from the penalty spot.

Three minutes later, Cowley and Robbins combined to set up Dawson for the third.

Corey Pearce pulled a goal back for the visitors and keeper Nathan Phillips had to pull off a couple of fine saves from Pearce and Ashley Lawrence to prevent a further reduction in the margin.

Juniors hit back, however, and Cowley raced through the Wolves defence to round off the scoring.
