DAVE Dawes has triumphed in Hereford Fly Fishing Club’s annual competition in Wellington.

The Wellington regular Dawes put his experience to the test and managed the only four fish limit of the day for 9lb 5oz.

Tony Armstrong was second, with 4lb 10oz, and Norman Brown, with 4lb 40z, secured third spot.

Eric Griffiths bagged the best fish of the day - a rainbow weighing 2lb 6oz.

Fishing proved to be difficult owing to bright sunshine and a water temperature of 24C making the fish very lethargic.

The club welcomes new members who can fish their two lakes as well as taking part in club trips to many fisheries in the region.

People interested in fly fishing and who would like to join the club should call the membership secretary, Bob Jones on 01432 358517.

The club’s meetings are held at the Three Counties Hotel on the second Monday of each month, at 7.30pm for 8pm
