HEREFORD United’s scheduled friendly match against Sinkums has been cancelled, the Hereford Times can confirm.

The Hereford Times Herefordshire League Division Two minnows were due to play Jon Taylor’s United on Wednesday night under floodlights at Edgar Street.

But Sinkums’ manager Tony Chadwick has been contacted by United and told the friendly has been cancelled ‘due to unforeseen circumstances’.

Remarkably, Hereford United have not yet played a home pre-season friendly this summer in front of a paying public at Edgar Street.

HT can you contact the club to ask what the unforeseen circumstances were - Lonsdale made a grand statement the other day about this game showing the fact that they have great support in the community which seemed at the time extremely perverse given the fact that almost every club in the local area has declined a friendly request with them. Do they have a safety certificate in place in order to be able to play? Did sinkums come to their senses and refuse to play? Do HUFC have enough players to play? This is a charade. No friendlies at Edgar St prior to the season staring on Saturday. What's the betting the fans forum on Friday evening will be cancelled as well? You really couldn't make this stuff up...

Better not start that carry on in the Southern League or they will be out on their ear.

A true story: The psychic medium, Derek Acorah, had to cancel a performance last year due to 'unforeseen circumstances'.
Well, if you're ill that can't be helped. But a football match against a local team of amateurs that has to be cancelled - with no reason given, takes some believing.
As Whatabouttheleases says - you really could not make this story up.
If Saturday's game does go ahead (and I can't predict the future; I'm a medium large rather than a medium), it would be silly to believe that United will be 3-0 down with four minutes to go and Roy of the Rovers will come off the bench and score four!!
Totally implausible!
But, hang on - most of the past few weeks seems totally implausible.

I hope any supporter is not mad enough to line the pockets of these incompetents by going to any future home game. Their obvious remit is to run down the club as much as possible as they continue to treat both ex players and staff with complete contempt, not forgetting the fact that they have treated its supporters with a diabolical attitude. These are the same supporters who have dug deep in their own pockets to help keep the Club going. No wonder over 800 supporters turn out to watch a supporters
Team at Malvern at the weekend. What a great way to stick two fingers upto the current regime. This is the way forward, HUFC 1938 is dead, so please HT get the balance right in your reporting. The supporters will still be there long after these misfits have departed back down south.
