DESPITE their lofty position in Division Two, Almeley Cricket Club’s captain is not yet allowing himself to dream of promotion.

Marc Priday believes the club needs more numbers in the squad before they can start thinking about the first division.

He said: “It would be a notable feat to get promoted but that’s something we’ve got to conquer at the end of the season.

“We’re not looking at promotion at the moment and we do need an influx of players to compete in that division.

“We are competitive but we are struggling for numbers at this time of year but we are competing in the league.”

Priday also thinks the average age of the side needs to be reduced if they are to have long term success.

He said: “We could do with a few more youngsters in the team at the moment as we have too many 40 somethings – we are struggling for numbers.

“We’re always looking for new players, we put posters up around the village but unfortunately we have had to fold our youth team due to lack of numbers.”
