SOLICITOR Peter Lewis is continuing his regime of change by moving on from his 1961 Ford Anglia.

Lewis sold his practice in 2012 and now works as a locum for Hereford solicitors Humfrys and Symonds with total retirement never an intention.

And now, his Anglia has been replaced by a brand new built Ford Escort Mark 2 RS2000.

“The Anglia has given us great pleasure and some excellent results over the past few years," he said. "But I’ve had a longing to return to an Escort having successfully campaigned one in the 80s.

"There is 50% more power on tap from the 200bhp engine so corners will arrive a little sooner.”

The Anglia will still be seen out on Historic Rally rounds with its new owner but the focus in 2015 for Peter and co-driver Alan Jones will be Top 15 results in the Escort on selected British Asphalt historic championship rallies.

“I rallied a Mark 2 Ford Escort RS 2000 in the 80s with some encouraging Top 20 results and now it’s time to go the full circle and campaign on once more before I retire from the sport," said Peter. "A little bit of adrenalin at my age of 67 is quite exciting.”

West Wales Rally Spares supplied and changed the car to full historic specification for Peter but Ted Richards of Hereford will take over the preparation going forward while John Bushnell’s Body shop will ensure the shell is kept in pristine condition.

2014 will be down to some testing with the car and hopefully at least two events before focussing on a championship in 2015.
