Advisor Nathan: This is Hereford United - not the Dog and Duck team

ADVISOR Joel Nathan admits he was disappointed the Hereford United Supporters Trust (HUST) fans’ match at Ledbury Town grabbed the headlines.

“We were doing Monday’s game against Besiktas for the right reasons rather than just a game that seemed to be getting all the headlines and was like a pub game,” said Nathan, who is advising United’s owner, Tommy Agombar.

“It seems like it’s a lot of people making a noise against us but it’s a minority.

“We could probably name the people who stir it up on the internet.

“The crowd at the friendly the other night is based on the fact it was a game they could watch.

“If we had put on the game here against Besiktas, they would probably have had 30 people and we would have had 2,000.

“I know people want to watch football and come August 9, we will be able to offer them that facility.

“I will be very surprised if we don’t top 654 on the opening day of the season.

“They will be watching Hereford United – it won’t be the Dog and Duck or whatever this team are calling themselves. It will be Hereford United.”

He questioned whether last season’s Conference campaign was a success.

“The team stayed up on the last day of the season,” said Nathan.

“You are talking about people hailed as heroes.

“You had a team that barely stayed in that division.”

What a horribly rude thing to say about the people the club actually depends upon: the supporters (hence the term). A textbook way to alienate the people that matter. It's all the worse because the fans have asked for so little (just honesty, really, that's all that was needed). The supporters have put up with so much and tried to do something constructive about the situation, only to be dismissed like this. He also dismisses the gargantuan efforts of last season's team off-hand. So rude.

Besides, he can't say that it would have been different if the Besiktas game had been played in Hereford. That's a crass argument. The game was deliberately held behind closed doors, staged the other side of the country, and announced an hour before kick off exactly because fans were not welcome! By that reasoning, the Hereford United Supporters Trust Team (...um...Dog and Duck?) could equally say that they would have had an even greater turn out in protest. But it would be nonsense to say that.

Joel, how can this current regime be hailed as heroes? Seroiusly, irrespective of how it was achieved, the previous team maintained our Conference status. That alone makes the season a success, especially given the fact that many of the players and staff has not been paid for months. They did it for the love of the club and the fans. Unfortunately your statements only serve to alienate those same fans. Fans that in two short months have seen the club fall by two divisions and witness numerous promises to pay football creditors (this includes last seasons squad) go unfulfilled.

654 turning up for a supporters team game is a significant number. It is a show of solidarity to those that represented the club last season and seasons past, whilst demonstrating the weight of ill feeling towards the regime you represent. You are not dealing with 50 people trying to cause trouble, you are dealing with a huge ground swell of supporters that want what's best for Hereford. You and the Agombar regime do not represent that option.

The only dog and duck team are ,this ram shackled poor excuse of Hereford United . To try a belittle the fans and ex players for what they have achieved. Hereford is a community team,I class two ex players as good friends even though both left many years ago,but they still have a love for the fans. Nathan clearly has no idea about the strength of solidarity there is in the City . And whilst this regime are owning MY CLUB I will not step inside ES until they have gone

Unbelievable really isn't it, they couldn't advertise the game because they are scared stiff of the opposition to it that would have turned up. On the other hand the supporters team was well advertised and drew a healthy number of fans that will not go any where near his pathetic bunch. To have a dig at a team that fought tooth and nail for Conference status particularly when his gutless crew surrendered without a shot being fired is quite pathetic.
This lot certainly know how to run their mouths, it is a different matter when they have to back their big gobs with the folding stuff.
By the way Joel when are you going to grow a pair and admit your status at the Club?, or have the Southern League been fed another pack of lies?. Grays will likely want to know where they stand as well.

Not very clever comments.

If this doesn't serve to galvanise support for your detractors I don't know what will.

Agombar said he doesn't like doing press because he doesn't come across very well.. Good lord. He couldn't do any worse than this plonker.

Cut your losses and sell up to HUST.

Tommy confirmed to a member of staff on the 25th of June that cheques had not just been written but sent out in the post - the text messages confirming this seem to have been published on the internet!! Yet this week you have come out and said that your starting to pay everyone THIS week, a month later!! What happened to the cheques which Tommy was adamant had been sent?

Aswell as the 'confirmation' that the cheques had been sent on the 25th June there have been numerous claims that everyone is getting paid on this or that date and this or that date has been and gone without anyone seeing a penny without a word from anyone at the club. Finally the money starts to trickle in on or just after the Southern League deadline for payment of football creditors, funny that.

Surely you must realise how blindingly obvious it is to everyone what seems to be really going on.

The way Mr Agombar et al are behaving also alienates the armchair supporteers right acrss the county and further afield. If everything is straightforward and honest, why all this messing about with payments. This is money owed to players, suppliers, local small businesses who need it. Do you really think with your cavalier attitued towards fans, players and suppliers from the past is going to get you more fans, new suppliers and support from the Council ? I don't think so. You are definitely not Herefords answer to Cecil Duckworth !!

It just shows what they think of the club and the fans! They are not worried one bit that over half of the clubs supporters wont show up to watch the games.
They dont care one bit about the fans or the club and this interview proves that.
If you are going to go to edgar street first game of the season, i hope you are aware of what you are really supporting because its not hereford united.
