WYE Valley Runners are seeking entries for two of their major forthcoming events.

The Gord’s 6 Race, on Sunday, August 10 at 11am, celebrates the life of Gordon Clements, who was a founder member of the Wye Valley Runners.

The race venue was switched to Fownhope last year and is one of the most scenic courses in the country taking in meadows, riverbank and woodland trails around Caplor Hill Fort and is approximately six miles long.

The Breinton 10-Mile Road Race, which takes place on Sunday, September 7 at 11am, was introduced to the Herefordshire running calendar in 2012 principally to give local runners an opportunity to race over the classic distance of 10 miles.

The course starts and finishes at Hereford Rowing Club and can best be described as undulating and is mainly run on rural roads around the apple orchards of Breinton village.

In addition to the usual selection of winners, category and finishers prizes new trophies will be awarded to the first male and female under-21 finishers. The U-21 trophies celebrate the life of Tom Pugsley who was tragically killed whilst cycling in Herefordshire earlier this year.

The course record is held by Rhys Park of Cheltenham Harriers who won the 2013 race in a time of 54.07. Rebecca Davies of Wye Valley Runners holds the ladies course record with a time of 68.57. The race also hosts the Herefordshire County Championships.

Entry forms and on-line entry central links for both races are available on the club web site.
