SINKUMS’ manager Tony Chadwick says a fixture has not been confirmed with Hereford United.

The suggestion of a fixture was mooted by United’s assistant-boss Neil Phelps, he claims.

But Chadwick said any friendly was unlikely to take place tomorrow – as previously suggested.

“The chance of a game between Sinkums and Hereford came about following a bit of chit-chat between our goalkeeper and Neil Phelps, who is at Hereford United", said Chadwick.

“I mentioned it to my lads at Sinkums and only one player out of 17 said he wouldn’t want to play in a match with Hereford United.

“I am not from Hereford and I am not a Hereford United fan and, at the moment, nothing has been confirmed for tomorrow.

“People must have seen a message on social media from one of our players.

“I have not heard anything from Hereford United and a day’s notice would be too soon.”

Sinkums will be competing in Herefordshire League Division Two in the new season.

And Chadwick says he will speak to his players again at pre-season training tomorrow.

“I am not a Hereford United fan and I thought it would be a great chance to play against Hereford United who were a Conference club last season,” he said.

Chadwick added: “Nothing has been decided – but I don’t see it as any more than just a game of football.”
