HEREFORDSHIRE were well beaten when they played their final Middleton Cup match against a Devon side full of internationals at St Martin's.

The only winning rink was Tom Holmes (Ledbury), Colin Walters (Bodenham), Dan Palmer (Ross-On-Wye) and skip Shaun Jones (Ross-On-Wye) who maintained their record of winning all their games, a major achievement.

At the start it looked like it was not going to be their day when they dropped three twos in the first four ends.

The rink recovered to win 15 of the next 16 ends to take the score to 27-8 before losing the last two ends for a final score of 27-11.

Best of the rest was Dan Holmes (Ledbury), Phil Holland (Hereford), Mike Holmes (Ledbury) and Mike Ricketts (Ledbury) who, after 15 ends were level at 14-14 but finished 18-22 down.

Ivan Beesley (Ross-On-Wye), Richard Cooke (Ross-On-Wye), David Holloway (Leominster) and Rob Gwilliam (Ross-On-Wye) lost 11-36.
