HEREFORD United starlet Jarrod Bowen has signed a three-year academy deal with Premier League outfit Hull City.

The Leominster-based youngster has left Edgar Street over the non-payment of wages after the club failed to fulfil his contract.

Bowen starred for United’s first-team after making his debut against Barnet when Pete Beadle and Steve Jenkins took over the reins following the departure of Martin Foyle and Andy Porter.

He was part of United’s youth set-up, scored his maiden professional goal in front of the Meadow End in a thrilling 3-2 home win over Alfreton in the Conference Premier.

The 17-year-old was United’s most saleable playing asset and was a constant threat in their memorable 2-1 win over Aldershot at the Recreation Ground in the final game of the season.

Jarrod’s dad, Sam Bowen, explained: “Hereford United sent us a letter and put a three-year contract on Jarrod which would entitle them to compensation should he move on.

“But we wrote to Hereford United and put in 14 days’ notice due to a breach of contract and we did not hear anything from them.”

“Jarrod was born in Hereford and it has been a devastating time for him and the other young players at the club.”

“Had Peter Beadle and Steve Jenkins remained at the club, it would have been a much harder decision for us to make about Jarrod’s future.”
