Burghill and Tillington Cricket Club kept their promotion push going with an emphatic win at Wormelow on Saturday.

The result took them top of Division two after Bewdley had their game abandoned.

They set the hosts 220 to win after opener Alex Hedges put on 53 runs for the first wicket with skipper Owen Morgan who went on to score 63.

Morgan said: “We’re very pleased with the performance, it’s a brilliant result.

They then restricted the hosts to 92 all out with Ben George taking five wickets for 20 runs.

Morgan said: “Ben’s taken 15 wickets in the last three games -we’re very pleased with him again.”

Wormelow’s overseas all-rounder Jamie Banfield was the pick of their bowlers, taking four wickets for the loss of just 24 runs, restricting the visitors to 219-9.

Wormelow were never really allowed to get going in their reply and skipper Ben Owens top scored for them with 20.

He said: “It’s very disappointing, I don’t know what went wrong and we didn’t seem to do anything right.

“We did not bowl with enough discipline until Tim Boulter and Jamie Banfield came on.”

Wormelow's next game is away Bewdley while Burghill face Worcester Dominies and Guild at home.
