ORLETON ace Scott Moran has roared to the first 22-point haul of his MSA British Hill Climb career.

The reigning champion and current leader broke the Doune Hill record twice at the weekend.

Moran is in charge of the competition at the end of the first third of the season.

“I think I have had 21 points before but I haven’t broken two records in one day and won both run-offs,” he said.

“When we got to Doune it normally rains and this was the first time in a long time it has been a dry weekend.

“There were a lot of class records and the hill record went five times.”

Moran will be hoping to strengthen his chances at Harewood on July 6.

“The other drivers are pushing hard and that can either help or hinder,” said Scott.

“Doune is a very intense track and very fast – there is no margin for error.

“It’s a narrow track and makes Monaco look wide. If you get it right, you get a huge buzz.”

With Scott’s father, Roger Moran, assisting but not competing at Doune, Scott Moran had a memorable day.

Jos Goodyear lowered the record before Moran snatched it away.

The duo and Trevor Willis went inside the old record later for more bonus points.

Moran added: “I think Trevor Willis will, once again, be the main threat this season. He’s been there and won the title and his car is consistently good. It’s going to be a long and hard battle for the title.”
