LUCTONIANS administrator Simon Green-Price has announced he will be leaving the club next April.

The colourful character, who is known as ‘Norm’, will be cutting back his working hours in September.

Green-Price will be joining his partner, Tracy Fellows, at the Bateman Arms in Shobdon.

“Trying to juggle life as the administrator of a busy sports club with that of a busy pub is too much and is creating too many compromises,” he said.

“As of September, I will be cutting back my hours at the club to allow the phasing in of my replacement.”

He joked: “For many, the highlight the annual general meeting was confirmation that I would be finishing my employment with the club in April 2015.”

Meanwhile, Lois East and Eric Lane have been given life memberships at Luctonians.

Lois has retired as the financial secretary after 38 years and Eric has been involved at the club for 40 years.

Green-Price said: “In 1974, Eric Lane and Bob Parry approached Luctonians under the banner of Luston and Eyton Cricket Club and asked whether they could use a pitch for the odd game.

“The then chairman of Cricket, Cliff Davis said they could, on the basis that they paid £25 per season and helped with the grounds duties.

“And 40 years on, Eric is still living that commitment to ensure that Luctonians cricket grounds are the best in the county.”

Luctonians have elected Simon Whiteman as the new chairman, after Mike Powell’s three-year stint. Powell is the new vice-chairman. And Dave Thomas is the new president of Luctonians after Bryan Markham’s successful two-year stint.
