HEREFORDSHIRE are sweating on the availability of star all-rounder Brad Wadlan ahead of their opening Unicorns Championship match against Cheshire at Colwall, starting on Sunday.

Wadlan, who has been trying to break into the first-class game with Sussex, could be required for the south coast county's second Xl fixture which starts next Tuesday.

Danny Cox is standing by to replace Wadlan if he is unavailable.

Michael O'Shea is, however, able to return to the Herefordshire side after missing the Unicorns Trophy success at Berkshire.

As well as his batting skills, O'Shea's spin bowling talents will certainly come into play at Colwall, especially if Wadlan is unable to play.

With Mohammed Pardesi side-lined with a broken finger, Herefordshire's options in the spin department are looking thin.

Brockhampton left-arm seamer Jamie McIlroy will get his three-day debut for Herefordshire after impressing in the knock-out matches.

Herefordshire: Dave Exall (capt), Liam Gwynne, Nitesh Patel, Michael O'Shea, Brad Wadlan (or Danny Cox), Ben Stebbings, David Ball, Liam Padgett, Callum Stewart, Dan Conway, Jamie McIlroy.
