JON Mould has hit the front for Hereford-based NFTO Pro Cycling in this season’s Pearl Izumi Tour Series.

Mould triumphed in round six of the series in Edinburgh and he leads the overall sprint standings.

The Welshman has become only the second rider in Pearl Izumi Tour Series history to take three individual wins in a season.

Mould took another dominant solo victory, ahead of second-placed Tom Scully and Kristian House as the series made its first appearance in Edinburgh.

As well as his individual triumph, Mould added the sprint win and retained the sprint jersey on a memorable night.

Mould powered clear in the final sprint on the tough 1.3-kilometre course which featured a long cobbled climb through the Grassmarket and up Victoria Street, before a fast descent back to the Grassmarket.

After making his break, the NFTO Pro Cycling rider kept a steady lead over his rivals to add to his victories in Durham and Stoke-on-Trent.

The NFTO, which is based in the city and owned by John Wood, took fifth spot in the team section.

Previously, Mould’s individual win took the plaudits at Durham in the fifth round of the series.

Mould was involved in a thrilling final sprint with a Rapha Condor JLT rider and came out on top, narrowly pipping Graham Briggs for the individual victory.

Mould, a Newport rider, was at the front throughout, and won all three sprints.

Fellow NFTO rider Josh Hunt finished in 16th position as the Hereford team came home in fourth place.
