PAUL Mann is stepping down as manager of Ledbury Town.

The 49-year-old says that personal and work commitments will prevent him from carrying on the role next season.

Mann took over from previous boss Phil Preedy last October and steered Ledbury to 13th place in West Midlands League Division One.

"My personal situation and work commitments mean that I won't be able to commit for next season," said Mann.

"I think the club needs a fresh change and a team to shake things up.

"I will still support the club in terms of fundraising, and if the new manager needs any help or advice, then I will be more than happy to help."

Mann said that the team 'underachieved' last season and admitted that some of the players may have struggled to adapt to his style of management.

"I didn't start the season with them and picked up the reigns from someone else, which is always difficult," said Mann.

"I did struggle to implement my ideas at times.

"But everyone has a shelf life.

"I'm 50 this year and people change, as well as techniques and the way you manage.

"Maybe some of the younger guys didn't respond to my old-fashioned style."

Mann, however, believes that Ledbury have the capability of finishing much higher in the league next season.

"We had a couple of hidings last season, but when he had a strong side, we played extremely well," said Mann.

Karl Lancett is also stepping down as reserve team manager.

Anyone interested in either position can contact the club on 01531 631 461 or by writing to Ledbury Town Football Club, New Street, Ledbury, Herefordshire, HR8 2EL.

The deadline for applications is Saturday, May 31.

Meanwhile, Martin Stephens has been announced as Bromyard Town's new manager.

Stephens returns to Bromyard after a spell as the club's first under-18 youth team manager and brings a wealth of non-league experience to the Delahay Meadow side.

Bromyard struggled last season and finished bottom of the West Midlands Regional Premier Division.

The club are also returning to the Midland Floodlit Youth League where they will be led by former Town player Matt Oliver.

Training and trials will begin towards the end of next month.
