Wolverhampton Casuals win 5-4 on penalties.
PEGASUS manager Chris Hyde said that he was not too disappointed on missing out on promotion because the step up "would have been too much".
The Old School Lane outfit narrowly lost to Lye Town in the race for the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division title despite finishing on 100 points.
But Hyde said that, even though he was satisfied in finishing second rather than lower down the league, it was not the end of the world.
"I'm not too disappointed to have missed out on going up because the jump would have been too big and we were not quite ready," said Hyde.
"We will certainly not celebrate being runners-up because I don't want my boys buying into that mentality, but it is still a good job well done."
Last Saturday, Pegasus bowed out of the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division Cup after losing a dramatic penalty shoot-out against Wolverhampton Casuals.
However, the Hereford side did well to even take the game that far after goalkeeper Bryn Watkins was sent off midway through the first half for an alleged dangerous tackle.
Casuals were unable to take advantage of the numerical advantage though and the game went to extra-time.
Pegasus almost won the game with three minutes left, Kiea Cowley broke through, but was denied a goal by a fine reaction save from the Wolverhampton keeper.
The tie went to penalties, which Casuals won 5-4 after seven rounds of spot kicks were completed.
After the game, Pegasus were awarded the league runners-up trophy from West Midlands Regional League chairman Wendy Juggins.
