A YOUNG Herefordshire rider who has been selected for the Special Olympics has competed in his first full GB training weekend.
Sam Oliver is the first county horseman ever to have been picked for the competition.
The 15-year-old and his coach Janet Alderton recently took part in a training session in Runcorn, Cheshire.
Alderton said that Oliver and the rest of the team also rode three horses each at the Wirral Riding Centre.
"As the weekend went on, Sam grew in confidence and got on well with the other equestrian team members, despite being the youngest by seven years," said Alderton, who herself has been invited to assist Special Olympics GB head coach Sarah Moreland at the event in Los Angeles in August 2015.
