TOP power lifters Adam Brazier and Yuri Kohno have bags to pack before heading to their world championships next month – shopping bags.

Billed among Britain’s brightest power lifting prospects, Adam and Yuri work together work at Leominster’s Aldi store.

There, they will be bag packing for customers to raise money for the Royal British Legion (RBL) Poppy Appeal.

The two Leominster lads – Adam, 20 and Yuri, 26 - have been training for three years but never had their eyes on a competition until last August.

Their potential was spotted by former World’s Strongest Man Laine Snook who owns the town’s Iron Works gym.

Laine put Adam and Yuri forward to compete.

Firsts in regional and national championships followed for both to qualify for June’s World Power Lifting championships in Dusseldorf.

Laine saluted Adam and Yuri for using their world championship status to fundraise for the RBL.

“It shows both their commitment and dedication to a very worthy cause, the same qualities they have shown in their training for the world championships - I am very proud of them,” said Laine.

Adam said world championship qualification was the “ perfect opportunity” to support the poppy appeal.

“Come and support us bag packing at Leominster Aldi, any donation no matter how small will be appreciated and will make a difference,” he said.

The pair have also set up a web page www.justgiving.com/adamandyuri”

Liz Parker, Herefordshire Poppy Appeal community fundraiser , said it was “great” to see two local lads so proud to support the appeal.

“We wish Adam and Uri good luck with the competition,” she said.
