FORMER Hereford United boss Martin Foyle has been appointed manager of the Bulls' Conference Premier rivals Southport.

Foyle takes over from ex-Accrington boss John Coleman who inspired an upturn in the Sandgrounders' fortunes at the end of the season to enable them to avoid comfortably the relegation place for which they had seemed destined for much of the season.

Foyle left Edgar Street after the defeat at Wrexham on March 18.

He had been named Conference Premier manager of the month for January.

Peter Beadle, meanwhile, who masterminded United's thrilling great escape from relegation in his eight-game spell as caretaker manager, has returned to his role as director of youth after his short-term arrangement expired on April 30.

He returned to his role at the head of the youth team last Wednesday when he oversaw a 3-2 win over Pegasus Juniors in the final of the HFA Giantkillers Cup at Edgar Street.

Ben Miller (2) and Max Kontic-Coveney scored for United with Josh Rogers and Joel Beaston replying for Pegasus.
