Pegasus Juniors 7 Bilston Town 3

PEGASUS cemented second place in the West Midlands League Premier Division when a strong second-half display earned them a conclusive victory.

The home side took the lead on six minutes when Cory Hyde and Kane Kahaki were involved in the build-up for Chris Mortlock to score.

Mortlock headed a Keith Jones cross against the bar before Adam Hill levelled for the visitors who then took the lead through a Sean Pugh penalty after Michael Nelson had been brought down by Jamie Cuthbertson.

Juniors were back on terms before the interval when Mortlock's blocked shot fell to Zac Brimble who drilled the ball home from 18 yards.

Almost before the crowd were back in position at the start of the second period, Bilston had regained the advantage when Nelson shot home from the edge of the area.

Mortlock beat three defenders to shoot Pegasus level again and, after 63 minutes, the home side regained the lead when Jones controlled a lofted pass from Anthony Robbins to shoot past keeper Chris Thomas.

Hyde increased the lead from the penalty spot after Jones had been brought down and Kahaki set up Mortlock to complete his hat-trick with a tap-in.

There still remained sufficient time for Hyde to score his 40th league goal of the season when he was played in by Kahaki.

Wellington remain in eighth place in the table despite a 3-1 defeat at Black Country Rangers.

The villagers had been hoping to go seventh with a win at home to Wednesfield on Tuesday night but the game was postponed when the visitors were unable to raise a team.

In Division One, Lads Club wound up their season with a 1-0 win over basement club Wolverhampton United.

Danny Hill latched on to a Jordan Burke pass and finished past the advancing keeper.
