Westfields 3 Coventry Sphinx 3

A LATE Dan Polan goal prevented Sphinx from spoiling the party as Westfields celebrated 10 years at allpay.park.

Polan struck a minute from time to earn a final day point from their Midland Alliance clash.

An array of guests had seen Sphinx take a 12th-minute lead when Luke Downes beat Matt Gwynne with a fine angled drive.

But Phil Glover levelled the scores with a far post header before Jamie Cuss missed a good chance when his weak shot was gathered by the Sphinx keeper.

Fields went in front before the break when Matt Reeve set up a chance for Saul Halpin to smash home a first-time shot from 18 yards.

But Sphinx got back on terms when hesitancy between Gwynne and Glover allowed Rickie Cutting to nip in.

Good saves from Gwynne kept the game level but Sphinx looked to have grabbed the points when Ashley Caine took full advantage after Glover lost possession.

But Polan hit back to ensure that Fields gave their guests something to celebrate.

Goalkeeper Matt Gwynne was voted Westfields player of the season by the club's supporters.

The keeper received his award from chairman John Morgan after pipping defender Phil Glover to the award.
