OPENER Henry Langford cracked an unbeaten century as Brockhampton opened their Birmingham League Premier Division campaign with an eight-wicket win at Kenilworth Wardens.
Langford shared an opening stand of 105 with Adam Hewlett (72) and then added 139 with Chris Boroughs (70) for the second wicket as the villagers chased down their target of 261 with more than an over to spare.
The left-hander faced 137 balls and hit four fours and two sixes.
Earlier, young seamer Jamie McIlroy was the most effective Brockhampton bowler, returning 3-46 from his 10 overs as the home side compiled 260-7 from their allotted 50 overs.
Callum Stewart, celebrating his new contract with Somerset, picked up 2-29.
Eastnor were beaten by four wickets in a low-scoring Division Two match at Tamworth.
After being invited to bat in a rain-reduced 45-over match, Eastnor openers Sunil Rahi (25) and Andrew Fisher (25) posted 62 for the first wicket.
But, after that, although skipper Clive Chadhani (16), Tareq Jamil (14) and Arshad Hussain (13) all reached double figures, no-one was able to play a major innings and the visitors were all out for 132.
In reply, Tamworth made steady progress towards their target despite early wickets for Shahid Ahmed (3-30) and won with 11 balls to spare.
"We felt that we were about 30 runs short," said Eastnor spokesman Malcolm Hughes. "And we were also short of a fifth bowler."
