THE most valuable point-to-point in the Welsh Border area will take place at Cold Harbour near Monkland on Sunday, organized by the Radnor and West Hereford Hunt.

The only race over four miles in the region, The Crudwell Cup Men's Open, boasts prize money of £1,000, with £700 to the winner, and is likely to attract top-class horses from all over the country.

Only one Classic race is permitted in each Point-to-Point area.

The card will have a minimum of seven races, including an AGA Ladies Open, a qualifier for the hunter chase final at Stratford on May 30.

The first race at 2pm will be preceded by two pony races, over six furlongs and a mile respectively. There is also be a parade of hounds during the afternoon.

Cold Harbour is situated near the junction of the A44 and A4110, 3 miles west of Leominster.

Entrance to the excellent viewing course is £10.00 per person, under 16’s and car parking free.
