PEGASUS Juniors moved to the top of the West Midlands League Premier Division table after two victories over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Cory Hyde bagged a penalty as Pegasus secured a 1-0 victory at Wolves Sporting Community on Monday to move into top spot.

It followed on from a comfortable 2-0 win over Sporting Khalsa, at Old School Lane in a hard-fought and entertaining clash on Saturday.

The turning point in the game against Khalsa came five minutes into the second half when Kieran Northwood was red-carded for kicking an opponent in an off-the-ball incident.

He found Chris Mortlock with a raking pass, the cross from the striker found Ben Price who rolled the ball to Hyde who fired the ball home from 10 yards.

Richard Harrison linked with Mortlock, who found Keith Jones his pass enabled Kahaki to rifle the ball into the net.

With eight minutes remaining, Sporting Khalsa were awarded a free kick, this was looped towards the far post where Cordy headed wide.

Earlier, Hyde rattled the Khalsa crossbar in the first half after he seized on a loose ball, made ground before shooting from 25 yards.

Sporting Khalsa replied with a string of passes before Mark Habbershaw fired tamely at Stuart Turpin.

With four minutes remaining of the first half a throw-in by Sam Harrison beat the visiting defence and, Mortlock lobbed the ball over the keeper only for Jon Cordy to make a goal-line clearance.

After the interval, Hyde rattled the bar with a looping header from James Cuthbertson’s cross before

Kahaki and Daniel Sobocinski also went close.
