MANAGER Leon Cooke is hoping Commercial can roll over Hay St Mary’s in a top-of-the-table clash this Sunday, writes DANIEL WILKINS.

Table-toppers Commercial head into their final game of the season knowing only a landslide for Hay will stop them from clinching the Jewson Polypipe Herefordshire Sunday League Division One South title.

Cooke said: “It’s been superb this season - it started to sink in we could win the league when we beat Hay 3-0 in a cup match – they were the favourites to win the league.

“We’ve got a much better goal difference than Hay. We should win the title unless they put 15 goals past us and we haven’t conceded 15 games in a game all season.”

Commercial have been clinical in front of goal this season.

He said: “We’ve had 40 goals taken off us this season due to teams dropping out of the league. We’ve scored 24, 10 and 7 on different occasions this season.”

Commercial are aiming for a league and cup double - they play Division One South side Widemarsh in the Shelton Cup final on April 27 at allpay park.

Cooke said: “I’ve got two options, either I could play my best side and really go for the win or play players who have been playing all season.”

Hay assistant-manager Gareth Ratcliffe said his men have been concentrating on gaining promotion this term.

He said: “If we could overturn Commercial at the top it would be the icing on the cake. Craig Forsyth has been in good form for us, scoring around 20 goals.”

Ratcliffe believes Hay can give Commercial a run for their money in Sunday’s match.

“We were below-par when we played earlier in the season and I think we can give them a good game.”
