HEREFORD United’s winding-up order has officially been adjourned for seven days by the Royal Court of Justice.

The club paid £40,000 of the £78,000 owed to HMRC on Friday and have been given extra time to stump up the remaining £38,000.

But the good news is that, after the huge success of the benefit shows by Omid Djalili, gate receipts from Saturday’s match with Woking and other donations, the target has already been reached.

"Once we take into account the kind donations from supporters, the gate receipts from Saturday's game and the amazing £21,000 raised from the Omid Djalili shows on Sunday, then we can say we have enough money to pay the HMRC bill," said director Dave Preedy.

"Our efforts must now turn to paying the outstanding wages owed to the players and staff who have continued to work hard in difficult circumstances.

"On behalf of the board I'd like to thank the supporters for their fantastic efforts in helping us to reach our goal of raising £78,000."

The latest donation set to arrive is from former Bulls boss John Sillett.

“I’ve just returned from holiday and heard about the club’s plight,” he said.

“I want to donate £500.

“It was a great club for me and I’m pleased to try to help.”
