A DAN Herbert goal 15 minutes from full time sealed victory for Ledbury Town who came from behind to win in what was a hotly contested clash.

The goal came following good work down the right from man-of-the-match Tom Boyle, who beat three opposition players before firing in a cross for Herbert to bring down and fire home past a helpless Steven Bell in the Lads Club goal.

It was Lads Club who struck first in the game as Carlos Moriera kept his composure to beat Elliot Watts following a flowing counter-attacking move from the home side.

Ledbury responded well and were nearly level as Scott Roberts had the beating of Bell but a fantastic goal line clearance from Dale Richards prevented the ball from finding the back of the net.

However, it was just three minutes later that Ledbury did manage to find an equaliser through top scorer Jamie Welch, now 20 for the season, as he finished well from the edge of the area.

Welch then had an opportunity five minutes before half-time to send his side in ahead but he somehow managed to put wide from just two yards out following yet more good work from Boyle.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first with both sides creating good goal-scoring chances but some excellent keeping from Watts and Bell ensured the score stayed level until Herbert broke the deadlock.

As Lads Club pushed for the equaliser, tempers started to fray and they picked up two yellows, to add to two in the first half, and a straight red card for Ben Fuller.

However captain Steve Dixon did have a chance to level the game just minutes before the end but yet another fantastic save from Watts ensured all three points went Ledbury’s way.
