Otley 17 pts Luctonians 19

LUCTONIANS are still in with a chance of a top-seven finish in National Two North after a battling away win.

Their two-point victory keeps them in ninth place in the table, a point behind seventh-placed Preston Grasshoppers with a game in hand.

But the Mortimer Park club have some tricky games against promotion-chasing Macclesfield and Darlington Mowden Park, as well as fourth-placed Sedgley Park, before winding up their season with a trip to Hull.

The Herefordshire side had an early chance by Will Burton's penalty fell short.

Otley kicker Mark Ireland landed a straightforward chance on 13 minutes but, three minutes later, full-back Jimmy Norris benefited from some recycled ball to go over for the afternoon's first try.

Adam Knight played in Norris for a second try on 27 minutes and, with Burton landing the conversion, Luctonians had a comfortable lead.

Ireland landed penalties either side of the turnaround but Luctonians quickly struck back with a try from Alex James which Burton easily converted.

A try from Arnie Ellison brought Otley back into the game but Ireland's conversion attempt struck the bar to leave the visitors winners by two points.

Bristol Aero 20 pts Ross on Wye 29

ROSS kept up the pressure at the top of Gloucester Two with an important away win.

The south Herefordshire side now have three successive home games to underline their bid for a top-four spot.

Although the home side kicked an early penalty, Ross were soon in front with a Jack Donavan try and extended their lead when Jonnie Baynham went over.

A Casey Morgan score, converted by Craig Boughton ensured a 17-6 interval lead.

With three Ross players in the sin-bin, the home side were able to go ahead with two converted tries.

But, a full complement restored, Ross hit back with tries from Gavin Oates and Morgan to seal the win.
