WESTFIELDS gave an outstanding performance to win by the odd goal in a nine-goal thriller on their first ever visit to Shepshed Dynamo.
Craig Jones rattled a post with a 20-yard free-kick in the first minute of the Midland Alliance clash before, just a minute later, a trip by Dene Whittal-Williams on Steve Chaplin enabled Alun Webb to score from the spot.
Jones' 20-yarder levelled the scores before Chaplin outpaced Phil Glover to score with a low drive.
Within minutes, Sam Gwynne put Aidan Thomas clear to equalise with a low shot.
And Luke Griffiths fired home the rebound after Jamie Cuss had headed against a post to put the Herefordshire side ahead Chaplin left unmarked at the far post to put the sides 3-3 at the interval.
Cuss restored the lead from a Zac Sirrell pass and Thomas raced past two Shepshed defenders for the best of the Westfields goals.
But Shepshed replied with a long-range effort from Jake Lever before Westfields survived the seven minutes of stoppage time.
Last Thursday, a late Jones goals was Westfields' only consolation in a 3-1 defeat at Coventry Sphinx.
