HEREFORD United’s new assistant-manager Steve Jenkins will combine his coaching role at Monmouth Town.

Jenkins has been named Pete Beadle’s right-hand-man, following the departure of United boss Martin Foyle and assistant Andy Porter on Wednesday.

Beadle and Jenkins inspired United’s under-18 team to a superb FA Youth Cup run which ended with an extra-time defeat to Manchester City.

Jenkins has led Monmouth Town to third spot in the Welsh League Division One, just four points behind Haverfordwest but with two games in hand.

Monmouth Town chairman Lee Robson said: “Steve has been given a great opportunity to help out Pete Beadle and Hereford United until the end of the season as assistant manager, a role he thoroughly deserves and in which we have no doubt he will excel. We wish them both good luck.

“Steve, together with his assistants Andrew Smith, Gareth Blackburn and physio John Fitzgerald and all of our players, have worked hard to make sure we are in a great position to mount a serious challenge for the Welsh League title.”

Robson added: “Steve will continue to coach our first team and, with his assistants, select the team for our ten remaining matches. As far as we’re concerned its business as usual with the great team we have on and off the pitch.”

Monmouth Town supporter Neil Kemp said: “Congratulations to Steve and co. You got to take opportunities when they are offered. Let's just hope it doesn't affect Monmouth Town’s results during this very important period.”
