NEW Hereford United boss Pete Beadle is under no illusions about how difficult his new role is going to be.

The youth-team manager was upgraded to caretaker first-team boss following the departure of Martin Foyle on Wednesday and has had just a couple of days to prepare for tomorrow’s trip to Barnet.

“These are difficult circumstances but we just have to roll up our sleeves, get on with it and try and finish off the job as best we can,” said Beadle, this morning (Friday).

“The season has been difficult but everyone on the playing side was taken aback by what has happened this week with Martin Foyle and Andy Porter leaving the club on Wednesday.

“Even after the recent run of results and performances, that was still a surprise to everybody.

“Everyone came in yesterday, got their head around it and started to focus on what the job at hand is, which is going to Barnet tomorrow.

“There will be no miracle changes over what is now a short time until the end of the season. We just have to instil some belief into the players, show a bit of faith and get behind them.

“They have to come in with the right frame of mind and they showed yesterday that they are right up for it.

“It only takes one game to turn things around and that could be Saturday.”

The man in the opposing dug-out tomorrow will be no stranger to Beadle.

Martin Allen was appointed Barnet boss for the fourth time this week and Beadle had a spell working under him at Underhill, as it was then, towards the end of his playing career.

“Martin Allen is a true character,” said the United caretaker boss.

“I worked with him for three months and thoroughly enjoyed that time.

“He’s different and he gets players to respond with some of the things he does but he knows the game and he knows football, he has done a good job with Barnet in previous years and has done it at other clubs, too.

“He is vastly experienced, knows exactly what he is doing and was a good mentor for me when I played with him.

“We stayed in touch and I would like to class him as a friend. I’ll speak to him on Saturday, of course, but it would be great to get one over on him and fantastic to beat him.”
