WELL, another disappointing match at the Street; I couldn’t be there, as I was at a wedding in elsewhere in the country and to be honest, having read the match report I’m glad I had other things to do.

On a positive spin, we’ve gone three matches unbeaten with an injury-ravaged squad, but let's face it, we should really have beaten a team already relegated.

Its been a long season of struggles on and off the pitch this term.

This is frustrating for all fans and yet we all live in hope of better things.

There are so many positive things about the club which are getting lost in the current noise about what’s happened this season.

Firstly, this club has an incredibly loyal core of fans, who over the 40-plus years I’ve followed the Bulls have put up with an awful lot, most of it not good.

That is a fantastic resource and we must not allow internal bickering to divert us from the main cause, which is keeping this club alive and moving forwards.

Secondly, the club’s youth development work has produced some real gems this year.

The youth team did a fantastic job in the FA Youth Cup and certainly raised the profile of the club among the gilded riches of that overblown marketing exercise called the Premiership.

It's great to see lads like Cory Williams getting a go in the first team. His commitment and energy is a sight to behold.

The frustrating thing is due to the financial situation we have to cut back the youth work; I for one am happy to support any activity we have in this area and I am sure I’m not the only one.

Thirdly, the redevelopment of the two ends is moving closer.

It saddens me that so many supporters seem to have such a jaded view of this and are openly critical of what has been done to date.

I think it's a good thing that we have a long-term lease on the ground, which gives us security and also enables us to do development which can bring in much needed non-match-day revenue.

We are not a club with a rich benefactor, so whatever happens we must do as a joint venture with developers and investors, but whatever is done, will be for the club’s benefit.

So, looking ahead, I feel confident about the future; yes, we’ve had a nightmare this year and in the immediate future we may well have a few more mountains to climb, but let's keep our eyes on the prize of a well-supported, financially secure club, playing good exciting football.

The journey will involve compromises, but if we supporters stick together, do things properly and not over-reach ourselves financially, we can achieve that aim. This is a great club to support and it has the power to bring the community together in a positive way.

Come on You Whites!
