Gornal Athletic 0 Westfields 3

WESTFIELDS extended their winning run to four matches after an emphatic Midland Alliance win at Gornal.

A trio of brilliant saves from home keeper Tom Harper kept out efforts from debutant striker Saul Halpin, Phil Harris and Craig Jones before the visitors went ahead through Phil Glover just before the break.

Gornal wasted a couple of promising opportunities from free-kicks but Westfields also had chances to increase their lead when Jones and Dene Whittal-Williams sent close.

Ten minutes from the end, substitute Dan Williams made ground down the right before crossing for Halpin to side-foot home.

Another substitute, Luke Griffiths, got clear in the penalty area almost on the final whistle to smash home the third.

Ellesmere Rangers 2 Pegasus Juniors 4

PEGASUS completed a West Midlands League Premier Division double to move into third place in the table, racing into a three-goal lead with just a quarter of the game gone.

Juniors made a fine start when Chris Mortlock was brought down in the area for Cory Hyde to smash home the spot-kick.

On 18 minutes, Mortlock had the easy task of slotting home the second when Mark Davies headed a Hyde corner across goal.

And, three minutes later, Davies bagged the third when he thumped home a Hyde corner.

Josh Brown fired past Nathan Phillips to reduce arrears before the break but Hyde struck the bar early in the second period before Kane Kahaki slotted home number four from another corner.

Marco Agaddio scored again for Ellesmere and was denied a second late on by a fine Phillips save.

Smethwick Rangers 0 Wellington 2

A DOUBLE penalty-save from stand-in keeper Craig Hill helped Wellington to a fine West Midlands League Premier Division away win.

Hill saved a spot-kick but the referee decided he was off his line and ordered the kick to be re-taken,

This time, Hill pushed the ball around a post.

By this stage, Wellington were already two goals to the good.

On the half-hour, Aaron Morgan went past two defenders to slot the ball home after a one-two with Saul Thomas.

THen, on 67 minutes, Will Perkings looked to be fouled on edge of box but, as play continued, Josh Hunt smashed home from an angle.
