Ross on Wye 13 pts Cotham Park 10
ROSS got back to Gloucester 2 winning ways on Saturday as some added defensive steel was enough to deliver a victory against determined opponents.
Good defence repelled Cotham's early advances and Ross were then able to build themselves into the game.
Captain Gavin Oates sent winger Craig Smith away and skipped out of two tackles to score.
Craig Powell converted.
Powell added a penalty to take the lead to 10-0 at half-time.
Cotham started the second half well and a converted try and penalty drew them level at 10-10.
Cotham missed a kickable penalty but cool Powell converted his to ensure a narrow win.
Bromyard 10 pts Bishop’s Castle 20
Bromyard were first on the scoreboard with a penalty from Toby Rivers in this Midlands Four West (North) clash but Castle scored a try just before half-time.
A converted try and a penalty extended the Castle lead before captain Jamie Williams crashed over under the posts for a Bromyard converted try.
But Castle scored a third try to deny Bromyard a losing bonus point.
Stourbridge Lions 27 pts Ledbury 10
Ledbury were knocked out the North Midlands Shield at the semi-final stage despite giving a good account of themselves against higher-ranked opposition.
Ledbury started well and established a useful lead after 20 minutes through two tries from winger Tom Tregaskes.
Neither try, nor a penalty, were converted and Stourbridge hit back to level the scores as the game approached the final quarter.
Ledbury created a couple of chances but the home team pulled away.
Head coach Paul Rudland said: “It's disappointing to go out of the Shield with the final within our grasp but we have consistently showed that we are capable of competing with and beating teams from the division above us and this is an indication that we are continuing to improve.”
