Bartestree 3 Shenstone 0

BARTESTREE remain on course for a top-three finish in Division One of the West Midlands League after a comfortable win over their Staffordshire visitors.

And the victory might have been even more conclusive but for a string of missed chances and good saves by the Shenstone keeper.

"It was another clean sheet and a great second half performance from our lads," said manager Dave Cadwallader.

"Unfortunately we only have three games to go."

Tom Harding was denied a penalty when he appeared to be brought down in the 15th minute but gained some consolation when he opened the scoring four minutes before the break.

The former Lads Club marksman was on hand to put the ball into the net from 15 yards after a shot from Kiea Cowley had been saved.

Harding was denied a second by a fine save early in the second period before the second goal arrived on the hour.

Cowley made ground into the area before slipping a pass to Tom Parry who finished coolly.

Parry again went close while Cowley twice shot over before bagging the goal he deserved in the closing stages, heading in after Parry's shot came back off a post.

The county's other two sides in the section had afternoons to forget.

Lads Club became the latest victims of runaway leaders Bridgnorth, who maintained their unbeaten record with a 4-0 win.

And it was even worse for Ledbury Town who were battered 9-0 at Hanwood.

But Town, who have lost 10 times in 13 away matches, now have three successive home games to look forward to as they bid to get away from the foot of the table.
