BULLS defender Danny Leadbitter is putting his faith fully behind boss Martin Foyle and his team-mates to get United out of trouble as the squad face two tough away trips.

And he stressed that he was happy to continue with the experiment of playing further up-field from his usual full-back role if Foyle asked him to.

"Being pushed forward is not something I’m used to and I’m not sure whether I look miles out of place or not," admitted the 22-year-old. "But it’s something that the gaffer Martin Foyle has asked me to do and I will do anything for him.

"I will play goalkeeper if he wants me to play there.

"My pace did trouble the Wrexham defence and that is what I have got to do, that’s why the gaffer trusts me to play there. I’m not sure what will happen at Braintree but I’m happy to play anywhere for him."

Leadbitter has been one of the few bright lights for United this season and was named the sponsors' man-of-the-match in the defeat by Wrexham last Saturday.

But the full-back would happily have swapped the award for three points.

"The man-of-the-match award is no consolation really," he said.

"Going on this run, which is now a five-match losing streak hurts much more than this award can repair.

"It’s tough out there. We just need to stick together and turn it around at Braintree."

Leadbitter admitted that he could not understand how things had turned around from a successful January, where Martin Foyle won the manager-of-the-month award on the back of a good unbeaten run.

"Confidence gets low in the camp after one defeat, and then there are two and three defeats," he said. "It just keeps rolling on and we need to break it.

"I’m sure that if we can get any sort of result at Braintree – a draw or a win that’s putting any sort of points on the board then that will turn everyone around in the dressing room."

Although the two long trips, to Braintree on Saturday and to Grimsby next Tuesday, are daunting, Leadbitter retains a positive attitude.

"The trips to Braintree and Grimsby are games that will suit us," he said.

"People have complained about the pitch at Braintree but we have to face it, we are not the best footballing team – and that is not to give any discredit to anyone in that dressing room.

"We suit a direct style of play and if Braintree come out to fight us then that will play straight into our hands.

"Grimsby will be more of the same.

"All is definitely not lost yet – put your trust in the people in that changing room because we will turn it around."

United will be hoping that Rod McDonald and Michael Rankine will be fit to return on Saturday.

McDonald missed last weekend's defeat by Wrexham while Rankine has been badly missed after sitting out the last two games with a hamstring problem.
