A HAT-trick by Hereford Academy's Jordan Evans enabled the city school to carry off the Marcus Powell Cup for the first time with a 3-1 win over Kingstone,

Evans scored his first goal from a one-on-one with just two minutes played but took until the start of the second period to bag his second.

Good defending from Harry Holmans and Jordan McKie kept the Kingstone attack in check before Dylan Davies' pass set up man-of-the-match Evans for his hat-trick.

Kingstone grabbed a consolation goal but the Academy continued to have the better of the action with Ashley Francis shooting just wide and an effort from skipper Jake Marshall-Saunders coming back from the bar.

“I would like to congratulate everyone in the team for their efforts in difficult conditions," said the Academy captain, after his school's first win in the competition's three-year history in a match which produced plenty of good football.

"It was an honour to lift the trophy and for the Cup to come here. I hope that we can retain the trophy next year."
