Ledbury 35 pts Kings Norton 3

LEDBURY cemented their hold on third place in Midlands 3 West (South) with a comprehensive win as they crossed for five tries without reply.

Although fielding a weakened side, Ledbury took hold of the match from the start and took the lead on eight minutes when good work by prop Arron Almond set up Matt Hallett to score near the posts. George Bennion added the conversion.

Six minutes before the break, Kings Norton kicked a penalty to capitalise on their first real attack of the game but Ledbury stormed back with pre-interval tries from Paul Rudland and Gary Nicholson, both converted by Bennion.

Ledbury continued to dominate in the scrum as the second-half got underway.

But missed chances meant that it was not until 10 minutes from the end that Elliot Bee sent in Jamie Rayfield to touch down near the posts.

A fine individual try by Hallett, which became the fifth of the five scores to be converted by the impressive Bennion, conclude a satisfying win for Ledbury, ahead of a difficult trip to Nuneaton-based Manor Park, the fifth-placed side, on Saturday.
